Rhoys Wiggins joined Birmingham City on loan from Bournemouth in the summer and has had nothing but praise for both clubs and their management. He has worked extremely hard this year having been exposed to some excellent training and settled in exceptionally with his team mates and the staff at both clubs.
Rhoys made his first appearance for Birmingham as a substitute against Blackburn and made his first starting appearance in the Derby against local rivals Aston Villa.
During the game against Villa Rhoys had an outstanding performance and it was clear that this was the result of the hard work and commitment he had put in over the last few months at both Bournemouth and Birmingham.
It was devastating for Rhoys, the club and the fans to see him stretched off in the 94th minute with a suspected serious knee injury. He has know been told that he has damaged both his lateral and cruciate ligaments in his left knee and he will undergo surgery within the next two weeks once when the swelling has reduced.
Rhoys remains positive and is more determined than ever to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. He has enjoyed his time under Gary Rowett who described his performance after the Villa game as “absolutely brilliant”.
Rhoys will focus his energy on making a full recovery and he will be fully committed to returning to the game as soon as possible. He has said that is thankful for all the messages and positive comments he has received from both the club and the fans and is completely dedicated to returning as soon as possible.
