Charlton Athletics Rhoys Wiggins has two very good reasons to celebrate. He has achieved promotion to the Championship with Charlton and has been named in the league one team of year along with three team mates.
It was in the summer of 2011 that Rhoys made the decision to join Charlton. It wasn’t an easy decision as he had a number of clubs in the Championship wanting to sign him, but he bought into the clubs plan for the future and also their history. It’s easy to say it now; He made the correct decision, at the time though he had so many things to consider. Another major factor in him signing was how much the manager wanted him and also that he’d played the same position as Rhoys throughout his career and could help him develop his game further, but is wasn’t only the manager everybody at the club was so keen to bring him on board and they stressed how ambitious they were going to be.
They’ve reached their first target; well nearly they haven’t been declared Champions just yet, and I don’t think I will get in trouble for saying that was their aim at the start of the season.
Rhoys has admitted that he’s started thinking about the challenges of next season already and is really excited by the prospect of competing in the Championship. Just like any player he has an ultimate goal which he’d rather keep to himself, but along with CAFC he is heading in the right direction.
