VILLA TRIUMPH TWICE

9 March 2015

Struggling Aston Villa have defeated local rivals West Brom twice in 5 days. The game was as expected full of passion and determination from both sides and both teams ended up with ten men.
The first half was certainly owned by Pullis’ men but Tim Sherwood’s team talk at half time did the job and Villa approached the second half with the ambition to win the game.
N’Zogbia squared the ball to Delph on the edge of the box and a powerful shot put Villa 1 – 0 up 6 minutes into the second half. West Brom should have equalised only moments later but they headed it wide from close range.
Yacob was given his second yellow card for his challenge on Bacuna in the 80th minute, which was shortly followed by a curling ball into the far right corner from Sinclair, assisted by Grealish.
After assisting the second goal Grealish unfortunately received a second yellow card, which took Villa down to ten men in the 93rd minute.
The match ended 2 – 0 and Villa landing themselves a place at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.
Throughout the week it has been debated wether Villa were the better team in the premiership win earlier in the week, but nobody could deny they deserved the 2 – 0 win on Saturday.
